Fans Defend Terry Crews After Black Lives Matter Debate With Don Lemon Goes Viral [VIDEO]

Terry Crews made an appearance on CNN to discuss his controversial tweet about “black supremacy” with Don Lemon. Watch their heated back and forth debate below where Lemon questioned Crew’s stance on the Black Lives Matter movement.

Terry Crews And Don Lemon Clashed Over Black Lives Matter

The video started off with Lemon asking the America’s Got Talent host to explain what he meant by his tweets about “Black supremacy” and all of his comments about Black Lives Matter. “When you have the leaders of the black lives movement who are now talking about…if we don’t get our demands we’re gonna burn it down, other black people who are talking about working with other whites and other races, they’re being viewed as sellouts or called Uncle Toms, you start to understand that you are now being controlled,” Crews said. “Terry, you’re a high-profile person, you’re writing things out there, you know you’re going to get backlash,” Lemon retorted. This pretty much set the tone for the rest of the interview as it became a battle of Lemon talking over Crews when he tried to explain his piece.

“The Black Lives Matter movement was started because it was started about police brutality. If you want an All Black Lives Matter movement that talks about gun violence in communities including Black communities, then start that movement with that name,” Crews said. “But that’s not what Black Lives Matter is about,” he said. “Black people need to hold other black people accountable, this is black America’s version of the #MeToo movement,” he continued. “If someone started a movement that said ‘cancer matters’ and then someone comes in and says, ‘Why aren’t you talking about HIV?’ It’s not the same thing,’ Lemon said. “But when you look at the organization, police brutality is not the only thing they’re talking about” Crews fired back.

People On Twitter Are Coming To Terry’s Defense After The Interview

One thing people on Twitter noticed right away is that each time Crews began to talk, Lemon spoke over him which then made Crews’ audio fade out. Was this a technical issue or a tactic to get Lemon’s point across? “BLM needs all the celebrity manpower they can get to obscure their true agenda, the destruction of the nuclear family, which is DETAILED ON THEIR WEBSITE. @donlemon does his best to talk over Terry Crews, but people are waking up,” said one Twitter user.

“Don Lemon seriously trying to argue that children being killed as a result of black on black violence at BLM events has nothing to do with black lives mattering,” said another.

Another tweet said, “Terry Crews starts to get into the trojan horse evolution of the BLM movement and Don Lemon promptly cuts him off.” Another said “Don Lemon knew Crews was about to speak the truth so he had to cut him off. BLM may have started in response to police brutality, but that’s not what the organization is now.”

After the interview, Terry tweeted “If I’m truly your equal, I can discuss my concerns with you- but if I’m not- all my concerns are perceived as threats.”

It is unclear if this tweet was directed at Lemon in particular.
