Laufey Got Her Start on Iceland’s Got Talent

Laufey’s history on talent shows started when she was a teenager. At age 15, she performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Around the same time, in 2014, she competed on Ísland Got Talent — the Icelandic version of the Got Talent franchise.

During her time on the show, her performances included a cover of “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. She ended up making it to the Finals. The following year, she competed on The Voice Iceland, reaching the Semifinals and becoming the youngest contestant in the show’s history.

Her song “Promise” was recently featured in an Olympic figure skating routine from Alysa Liu, who ended up winning gold in both the women’s singles and team events at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. “Promise” appeared on Laufey’s 2023 album Bewitched.

Last year, she released her latest album, A Matter of Time, featuring singles such as “Silver Lining” and “Lover Girl.” The project once again won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. The 26-year-old singer is currently performing on her A Matter of Time Tour.

In 2024, she performed her song “From the Start” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Are you a fan of her music? Let us know in the comments below.
