Simon Cowell reportedly feels “panicked” about his new boy band December 10’s lackluster debut. The seven-member group was created on Cowell’s recent Netflix docuseries The Next Act, and they released a new single called “Run My Way” last month.

Simon Cowell ‘Panicked’ Over December 10 Debut

On January 30, December 10 dropped their debut single, titled “Run My Way.” According to the Daily Mail, the track entered the charts at No. 72, selling only 6,300 combined units in its first week. Music industry insiders are reportedly calling it a “catastrophe.”

“Simon’s not used to this,” a source told the National Enquirer of Cowell’s reaction to the single’s disappointing reception. “He’s had the Midas touch for decades, so their lackluster single numbers are a huge shock.”

Cowell has since publicly shown his support for the band, attending their London concert earlier this month and promoting their next single, titled “Angel,” on Instagram. The source said that “privately, he’s panicked and trying everything he can think of to turn this around.” That includes “calling in every favor he can.”

Cowell Created the Band in a Netflix Series

In December of last year, a docuseries titled Simon Cowell: The Next act premiered on Netflix, following Cowell’s search for members of a new boy band. The group that formed was named December 10, after the show’s release date on the streaming service.

December 10 features seven young male singers — Cruz Lee-Ojo, Danny Bretherton, Hendrik Christoffersen, John Fadare, Josh Olliver, Nicolas Alves, and Seán Hayden. As of this writing, the group has over 400,000 followers on Instagram. This month, they’ve been performing live shows around the UK and Ireland.

“Simon isn’t ready to accept defeat, but the hard truth is that tastemakers change with time,” the source told the Enquirer of the music mogul’s feelings about the slow-moving success. “No one can stay at the top forever.”
