Demi Lovato has reintroduced herself as a revamped pop-rock superstar at the MTV VMAs last Tuesday night. Attending the awards show for the first time in six years, the singer spared no sweat proving she’s a vocal idol.
Demi Lovato Rocks Out During MTV VMAs 2023
In a triumphant return to the MTV stage, Lovato showed off her powerful vocals through a medley of her hit tracks. The singer wore a structured black dress as she hit notes of “Heart Attack,” “Sorry Not Sorry,” and “Cool for the Summer.”
Lovato’s gothic glamour perfectly matched her pop-punk performance. The singer definitely presented a new version of herself to the MTV VMAs, further cementing her awesome artistic identity in the industry.
The performance comes ahead the release of her much-anticipated new album, REVAMPED. For those who may not know, the album reimagines her pop hits as rock versions. The same follows her LP HOLY FVCK which she released in August 2022.
“Creating this project has been incredibly fun and allowed me to express my passion for rock music in a new way, and I feel so much closer to my older music because of it. I can’t wait for everyone to hear more!” she said.
According to Lovato, she wanted to “pay homage” to her tracks that resonated the most with her fans. As these songs played a crucial role in her career, she wishes to breathe an “exciting new life” into them.
Taylor Swift Spotted Fangirling Over Her
At the same award show, Lovato and pop megastar Taylor Swift shut down rumors of feud between them. As seen during Lovato’s performance, Swift was happily dancing along the crowd as the “Confident” singer belted her tracks.
Speculations of beef began since 2010, when Lovato seemingly made a sarcastic answer about Swift when asked about their mutual friend Selena Gomez. The feud gossips further heightened when the former Disney Channel star allegedly called out Swift for making a $250,000 donation to Kesha amid her legal battle with Dr. Luke in May 2016.
Lovato challenged Swift when she defended her former manager Scooter Braun years back. This was when Swift unsuccessfully obtained her rights over her own music, losing against Braun amid the controversy.
Now though, it’s clear that the two do not hold any vendetta against each other. Fans are definitely looking forward for more cute moments between these two pop stars.
Aside from Swift, Ice Spice, Kelsea Ballerini and Lil Nas X were also seen singing along the audience.
