Susan Boyle on the 'America's Got Talent: The Champions' Red Carpet

Actor Timothée Chalamet recently shared praise for former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle during an interview. Boyle herself later responded to Chalamet’s compliment in an Instagram post, saying she was “very flattered” by his kind words.

While promoting his new movie Marty Supreme in a recent interview with BBC News, Chalamet was asked to name some famous Brits he considers great. In addition to David and Victoria Beckham, Lewis Hamilton, and Fakemink, Chalamet named Susan Boyle.

For those who might not remember, Boyle is a Scottish singer who famously auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, wowing the show’s judges with her stunning performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables. She ended up finishing the competition in second place, and became a symbol of never judging a book by its cover.

“She dreamt big. She dreamt bigger than all of us,” Chalamet said of Boyle’s inspiring audition. “Who wasn’t moved by that? I remember that like it was yesterday. That was, like, the advent of YouTube, you know?”

Boyle Responds to Chalamet’s Compliment

Chalamet’s kind words about Boyle didn’t go unnoticed by the singer, who posted about it on her Instagram account earlier this week, calling it “incredibly touching to read” and adding, “I am very flattered.”

“Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me,” Boyle went on to write. “We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big!”

Boyle finished the post by wishing Chalamet “every success as you continue to dream your own dream,” and thanking him “for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly.”
