Dancing with the Stars Returns for Soul Train Night

The highest score of the night went to Chandler Kinney and her partner Brandon Armstrong, who danced a Cha Cha to “It’s Tricky” by Run-DMC. Carrie Ann Inaba praised their “amazing partnership.” Rosie Perez also had great things to say, and she advised Chandler to “let your sexuality explode.”

Derek Hough joked that Chandler “danced your pants off,” referring to the part of the dance in which Brandon tore off her athletic pants to reveal a fringed skirt. Bruno Tonioli told Chandler that she has “huge, huge star quality.” All four judges gave the pair a score of 9, adding up to 36 in total.

The second-highest score of the night went to Joey Graziadei and his partner Jenna Johnson, who danced a Jive to “Shout” by the Isley Brothers. Tonioli praised Joey’s musicality, while Inaba said that he’s “so talented.” Perez told Joey that he knows “how to boogie.”

Joey and Jenna earned a total score of 34. The third-highest score of the night (31) went to Jenn Tran and her partner Sasha Farber, who danced a Viennese Waltz to “Fallin'” by Alicia Keys. Four couples earned a score of 30 for their routines — Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy, Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold, and Danny Amendola and Witney Carson.

Who Had the Lowest Scores of the Night?

None of the remaining couples were eliminated during Monday night’s show. Instead, the scores and votes will be combined with those received on Tuesday’s episode, as the show returns for Hair Metal Night — with guest judge Gene Simmons of Kiss.

The lowest score from Monday’s show went to Reginald VelJohnson and his partner Emma Slater, who danced a Foxtrot to “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash. The judges talked about how much they enjoyed watching him, and Inaba was even brought to tears. However, the pair earned a combined score of 21 out of 40.

The second-lowest score on Monday night’s show went to Dwight Howard and his partner Daniella Karagach, who danced a Cha Cha to “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind & Fire. The pair didn’t have much time to rehearse, which affected their performance. They earned a combined score of 23 out of 40.

Rounding out the leaderboard were Eric Roberts and Britt Stewart with a score of 24 for their Foxtrot, and Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko, who received a score of 28 for their Rumba. Will they improve on Tuesday night? We’ll have to wait and see.

Dancing with the Stars Season 33 will return for Hair Metal Night, Tuesday on ABC and Disney+. There will be a double elimination at the end of the episode, so make sure to vote for your favorite couples to stay in the competition.
