According to Deadline, Idol to Icon will be available for fans to watch on YouTube beginning March 4, ahead of the Season 23 premiere on March 9. New episodes will be released throughout the season, corresponding to each part of the competition.

The last episode of the series will reportedly be about Underwood’s memories of the Season 4 finale and her winning moment. Underwood will also look back at her fashion choices during the 2005 competition, as well as reading from the journal she kept when she was on the show.

On Wednesday, Idol shared a sneak peek of Underwood reading a journal entry, in which she wrote, “I just have to keep in mind that it will all be worth it, and the life I’ve started will be great. Most importantly, I have to remember that this has all been my choice, and it’s something I’ve wanted ever since I was a little girl.”

Underwood went on to write that she had “some great things ahead of me” but was “trying to live in the moment and appreciate it all.” She added that she “never dreamed that all of this would happen to me.”

When Does the New Season Premiere?

Season 23 of American Idol is set to officially premiere on ABC on Sunday, March 9. However, fans will also get a special sneak preview of the new season after the 97th Academy Awards telecast on Sunday, March 2.

Underwood is replacing former judge Katy Perry on the panel, alongside returning judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Longtime host Ryan Seacrest will also be back for his 23rd consecutive season on the talent show.

As usual, the season will kick off with the audition round, as hopeful singers perform for their chance to earn a Golden Ticket to Hollywood from the panel. A select few contestants will receive the coveted Platinum Ticket, which allows them to skip part of Hollywood Week.
