Season 15 America’s Got Talent winner Brandon Leake is returning to the stage this season. The poet posted about his upcoming performance on Instagram. He was looking for help from a few special guests who have a love for poetry and the arts.Â
Brandon Leake to Perform in Season 16 ‘America’s Got Talent’ Live Shows
Brandon earned Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer last season for his moving poems that brought tears to our eyes. He was able to capture the attention of millions of viewers week after week. Brandon will be creating the same magic on stage this season with three Stockton youth poets. He held a pop-up poetry slam competition to find the lucky poets, writers, and rappers from his hometown.
“STOCKTON YOUTH POETS!!! I will be returning to the @agt stage on August 11th but I won’t be alone!!!” he wrote on Instagram. “We are looking for 3 talented Stockton youth poets to help fill out the roster!!! All you gotta do is submit a video of one of your poems before the deadline and you will be entered!!! Instructions are on the flyer and the prize for the top 3 is a trip to LA to perform on LIVE TELEVISION!!! Let’s rep our city and our culture of spoken word well!!!”
The America’s Got Talent auditions wrapped up before the show went on hiatus due to the Tokyo Olympics. The show will return with its first live show on August 10. Since the Judge Cuts were skipped this year, we still do not know which acts will be performing. Brandon is performing on August 11, which means there will be a live results show.
Brandon Has Kept Busy Since Winning the Show
America’s Got Talent featured Brandon in the promo for Season 16 where he performed an inspirational piece about showing the world your talent. The 29-year-old father of one has kept busy since winning the show, even directing a short film he wrote in June. He also spoke out about what he was going to do with his $1 million prize from the show.
“The moment that I finally get my winnings, my plan is to pay off my student loan debt,” he said in an interview with CNBC.
Brandon most recently worked on a paid promotion for Audacy, home of all the most in demand music, news, sports, and podcasts. It’s the perfect collaboration since Brandon showed audiences last season how much sound and spoken word can have such a huge impact on the world.
