Simon Cowell Confirms New BGT: The Champions

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of Britain’s Got Talent, and Simon Cowell has plans to celebrate it with another all-stars season. The show previously aired BGT: The Champions in 2019, similar to the AGT version which aired the same year.

Cowell told The Daily Mail that the upcoming spin-off will feature “the best of the best” from the show’s history, possibly including Susan Boyle — who finished in second place in Series 3. This year’s judging panel (Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI) is expected to return.

“You get the best contestants from all over the world and you re-compete in a big competition so, I like those kind of things,” Cowell said, adding of the possibility that Boyle will compete, “She has to!”

Boyle wasn’t a contestant on the previous BGT: Champions season, but she did appear on AGT: The Champions in 2019. She earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B, sending her straight to the finale.

When Does Series 19 Premiere?

Before BGT celebrates its 20th anniversary next year, Series 19 is gearing up to premiere later this month in the UK. The new competition will officially kick off on Saturday, February 21, at 7 p.m. on ITV1, ITVX, and STV.

As always, the competition will begin with the audition stage, as the judges watch performances from a number of hopeful acts and decide who should move on. Some acts will receive the coveted Golden Buzzer, sending them straight into the live shows.
