Blake Shelton Shades Adam Levine Ahead of ‘The Voice’ Finale Performance

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine’s shady bromance continues two years after Levine left The Voice. Shelton appeared virtually on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to give updates on all of the craziness going on in his life. He has been a coach on The Voice for all 20 Seasons of the show and might be getting his eighth win during the finale with artist Cam Anthony. Former coach Levine will also make his return to the stage, leading Shelton to throw some shade.
Blake Shelton Throws Shade at Adam Levine Before He Performs on ‘The Voice’
The lineup for The Voice finale is completely stacked with talent. Shelton’s fiancé Gwen Stefani will be performing her song “Slow Clap” with rapper Saweetie. Mega Mentor Snoop Dogg will return to perform with DJ Battlecat. And, OG fans of The Voice cannot wait to see Levine lead Maroon 5 in a performance up on the stage again.
Shelton and Levine have had a bit of a love-hate relationship for the cameras throughout their years of coaching together on The Voice.
“I saw that Justin Bieber is going to be on the finale, Gwen Stefani is on the finale, Maroon 5 they’re going to be on the finale,” Shelton said during the interview. “I didn’t say his name, I said the bands name.”
Jimmy Fallon sensed some obvious shade throw by Shelton and took it up a notch by declaring Levine “the king of The Voice.” Obviously Shelton is known as the king of The Voice since he is the winningest coach and will stop at nothing to get an artist on his team.
Shelton Also Revealed His Potential Wedding Song
Fallon, like the rest of us, wants to know all of the details about Shelton and Stefani’s wedding. There has been so much speculation about which of their celebrity friends are going to perform at the event of the century. Stefani spilled in a previous interview that they might just opt for a playlist.
Shelton joked that “The Wedding March” is going to be their wedding song. Fallon wasn’t buying it and asked Shelton what song will be playing during the couples first dance.
“It’s ‘If You Leave’ from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack,'” Shelton said. “We talked about this. We both love the song. We’re both fans of the 80s, Why not?”
We totally think Shelton is joking here with this song. It’s super upbeat and not something that a couple would traditionally dance to for their first dance at a wedding. Then again, Shelton is always surprising us with his humor. He also took this time to talk about his upcoming album Body Language.
“You’re nice enough to come on our show every time you have a new album, every time, the album goes at Number one,” Fallon joked.
Body Language is out on Friday May 21. Shelton will also be performing his controversial single “Minimum Wage” on The Voice finale as he looks for another win to further solidify his title as the king of The Voice.
