Amid his last season on The Voice, country superstar Blake Shelton is enlivening the moment back when he started. Alongside mega mentor Reba McEntire, the two are set to help their team ace the Knockout Rounds all while also looking back at their first season together.
Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire Reflect on The Voice Season 1
Kicking off last Monday, the Knockout Rounds showed a hands-on and focused McEntire for Team Blake. Verily, the country diva is probably Shelton’s best pick for his final season as they already have history in navigating the singing competition together. For those who may not know, McEntire was the Team Blake mentor back in the show’s premiere season in 2011.
“You brought me into this, and now you’re taking me out,” Shelton told McEntire.
While they indeed have season one to recall, such is not the only connection they had. According to Shelton, the “I’m A Survivor” singer is the artist he “looked to the most” when he was still dreaming to make it to the country music arena. Meanwhile, on McEntire’s end, she was excited to return as mega mentor to offer what she knows to season 23 contestants.
“It’s always fun to give advice,” she said. “I study people when they perform, and I wanna be touched when they’re singing to me.”
In the same episode, Shelton and McEntire watched a decades-old footage from season one. Reflecting on the same, the two marveled at how they look like “babies” during such episodes.
Fans Think She Can Fill His Empty Seat Next Season
Upon witnessing McEntire’s chemistry with series itself, fans now believe that she should stay longer on The Voice. Particularly, they are preaching for her as the perfect replacement for Shelton.
“There does happen to be a chair open after this season,” one user wrote. “Reba could be on the back of it.”
“These contestants can learn ALOT from you! Listen up, kiddos! She is the REAL deal!” another user wrote.
Some fans also expressed that they love seeing McEntire and veteran coach Kelly Clarkson together. This was notwithstanding an insider’s allegation that the two are not getting along well together.
The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. PT/ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. PT/ET on NBC.
