It’s crunch time on American Idol as the number of contestants dwindles down from 16 to 12 tonight. Before that happens, we of course have to make our own predictions about which contestants will be voted through and who will be going home.

Who Will Make it to the Top 12 on ‘American Idol’?

America’s votes will determine 10 of the contestants that will be moving on in the competition. The judges will then choose two more contestants from the bottom six vote-recipients to advance.

1. Grace Kinstler

Grace Kinstler will make it to the Top 12 without question. The 20-year-old college student was labeled as the frontrunner of the competition after her audition of Gladys Knight & the Pips “Midnight Train to Georgia.” Last night, her rendition of Sia’s “Elastic Heart” was quite the show-stopping performance.

2. Graham DeFranco

There’s probably no other contestant whose energy compares to Graham DeFranco’s. His consistent performances, including last nights rendition of “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra, is more than enough to send him to the Top 12. This 27-year-old pilot is definitely a major dark horse in the competition.

3. Willie Spence

Willie Spence, a 21-year-old caretaker from Georgia, has been nothing short of incredible on American Idol this season. After many fans voiced in YouTube comments that they wanted to see him take on a more fast-paced song, he delivered with Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.”

4. Ava August

At just 15 years old, Ava August has emerged as one of the new frontrunners of the competition. Her duet with Josh Groban is still fresh on everyone’s minds. There is no way America, and the judges, will let this California girl go home so early on in the competition.

5. Casey Bishop

Continuing with the trend of talented 15-year-olds, Casey Bishop totally owned the stage last night. Performing a Soundgarden song is not something that happens often on American Idol, and it was perfectly executed. It’s pretty safe to say that it was the best performance of the night.

6. Alyssa Wray

One thing Perryville, Kentucky’s Alyssa Wray will get this season is hometown love. Though her rendition of “Killing Me Softly with His Song” by Roberta Flack wasn’t her best performance, the 18-year-old has a personality and stage presence that really shines.

7. Hunter Metts

Hunter Metts is one of the artists that came into the competition with a very clear instant identity. He has a voice unlike anyone else and doesn’t sing traditional songs each week. Don’t sleep on this 22-year-old software developer who has been receiving a lot of love from the ladies online.

8. Cassandra Coleman

Coffee shop manager Cassandra Coleman has brought her unique folk style to new heights on American Idol. While her performance of “Wicked Game” may have lacked a little confidence, her humbleness and likability will help move her forward in the competition.

10. Chayce Beckham

12. Madison Watkins

Former ‘AGT’ contestant Madison Watkins has a pretty large Instagram following that might make all of the difference when it comes to voting for the Top 12. Who Might Be Going Home On ‘American Idol’?

It’s seriously not easy to pick or predict who should go through to the Top 12 on American Idol. Each of the singers deserves a spot. But after last night’s performances, there are a few contestants who might be headed back home.

As mentioned above, Alanis Sophia is a powerhouse vocalist, but last night might not have been her best performance. Deshawn Goncalves is vocally perfect, but maybe almost too perfect. We would love to see a little bit more of his personality shine through.

As for other contestants who may not make the Top 12, early standout Wyatt Pike, who could still get hometown love, had a pitchy performance last night.

Beane is also super lovable and has an incredible personality. However, compared to past performances we have seen, last night was a little bit shaky.
