Val Chmerkovskiy Returns to Dancing With the Stars Rehearsals

On Thursday, October 22, TMZ broke the news that Val Chmerkovskiy returned to the Dancing With the Stars set ahead of Horror Movie night. While heading into the rehearsal studio, the professional dancer was asked questions about his lifted suspension.

Chmerkovskiy ultimately did not stop and answer questions, instead he smiled at the camera, took photos with fans, and went into the studio. He did not speak to the photographer, or fans, only posed for photos.

Dancing With the Stars Did Not Address Suspension in Epsiode

During Tuesday night’s Dedication Night, fans quickly noticed that Chmerkovskiy’s suspension was not addressed. Instead, there was a very brief acknowledgement of the situation. In case you missed it, after introducing contestants on Tuesday night, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro announced “as you can see, Alan Bersten is with Jenna Dewan because Val is not with us this week.”

This was the only acknowledgement of Chmerkovskiy’s one-week suspension from the ballroom. Bersten mentioned the situation being unique in the skybox before receiving their score.

“First and foremost, I know it’s a really unusual situation,” he said. “But I feel so honored to step in and help you this week.”

Fans of the series were all over social media pointing out the fact that Dewan had better chemistry with Bersten, and even earned a higher score that she had previously with Chmerkovskiy. Bersten and Dewan earned a score of 37 out of 40, earning a perfect 10 from Carrie Ann Inaba.

There were even fans that were openly stating they thought Bersten should take Chmerkovskiy’s place for the remainder of the season. Many think that Bersten was actually better suited to dance with Dewan.
