'American Idol' 2026 judges

American Idol judge Luke Bryan is gearing up to return to the show for his 10th season. Season 25 of the singing competition will premiere in 2027, and Bryan predicts “nostalgic moments” as the show marks this major milestone.

Luke Bryan Teases American Idol Season 25

Luke Bryan recently told Country Countdown USA that he feels “honored to have done 10 years” as an American Idol judge, adding, “It’s a family show, lot of wonderful memories during the past 10 years.”

Bryan and his fellow judges Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie announced last month that they will all be back for Season 25 of the show when it returns to ABC in 2027. The country singer teased, “I expect there will be a lot of nostalgic moments, and I’ll get to see how I’ve aged over the last ten years.”

A premiere date has not yet been announced for Season 25 of American Idol, although recent seasons have premiered early in the year. Season 24 debuted in late January, which was earlier than usual. We’ll have to wait and see if the show keeps to a similar schedule for the 2027 competition.

Bryan, Richie Joined the Show in 2018

Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie joined the American Idol judging panel when the show moved from FOX to ABC for Season 16 in 2018. They were joined by fellow judge Katy Perry, who remained on the panel through Season 22.

In Season 23, Perry was replaced on the panel by country singer Carrie Underwood, who famously won Season 4 of the show back in 2005. Season 25 will mark Underwood’s third season as a judge. Longtime host Ryan Seacrest will also be back for the new season.
