Earlier this week, Alter Ego winner Jacob Thomsen (aka Dipper Scott) shared an honest post with his Instagram followers calling himself “broke” with “no backing.” This seems to suggest that he’s no longer working with the show’s judge, Will.i.am.
Alter Ego Winner Jacob Thomsen Says He’s ‘Broke’
In his first Instagram post since July, Thomsen told his followers that he’s “broke,” adding, “I have no backing. I’m basically stuck in limbo. I wish I could say everything but I can’t afford to land myself in hot water (though some might argue that I have nothing to lose right now).”
Thomsen hinted at “reasons I haven’t been posting,” going on to say that “many promises were made that were not kept.” It’s not clear what he meant by that, but it’s worth noting that Alter Ego judge Will.i.am offered to pay Thomsen’s medical bills when he won the show.
The singer, who has Crohn’s disease, said in his Instagram post that his health is “a challenge but I’m managing.” He added that he doesn’t believe it “will prevent me from continuing to pursue a career in music.”
Thomsen ended things on a positive note, saying he has “several opportunities on the horizon.” He also teased that he would be creating a new Instagram account to “start from scratch.”

Is Thomsen Still Working with Will.i.am?
The FOX show Alter Ego featured aspiring singers disguised as digital avatars. After winning the first season as the alter ego Dipper Scott, Thomsen released his first single. The song, called “Sanity,” was produced by Will.i.am.
Earlier this year, Thomsen released another single, called “The Room,” under the stage name Calinoda. This song was also apparently produced by Will.i.am. After the song’s release, Thomsen became quiet on social media for several months.
Considering Thomsen’s recent post, it seems likely that the singer is no longer working with the Alter Ego judge. Thomsen’s followers shared their support in the comments, saying they’re looking forward to hearing more from him.
