Hollywood Week Starts Tonight On ‘American Idol’

The audition process is now over and whoever the next American Idol is going to be has already been shown. Probably. There were some people who got golden tickets that were not shown, but I’m pretty sure they’ve shown us all the big contenders. Now comes Hollywood Week, where the contestants will have to survive a trial by fire to stay on the show.
If the auditions are a chess match, Hollywood Week is like gladiatorial combat. The contestants are paired off into groups and random solo performances which lead to massive cuts. This is where they separate the wheat from the chaff. There were some great singers who auditioned, no doubt. But there were also a lot of mediocre talent. Hopefully, those will be eliminated now. The process is somewhat chaotic, which is partly due to the fact that so many of them were chosen to go to Hollywood.
One thing is for sure which is that it will be entertaining to watch. People have commented that this season of Idol has been kind of dull and that they need to inject it with a bit of energy and power. This is their opportunity to prove that they can be as great as the original series. If they don’t capture the audience with Hollywood Week, it’s going to be tough to do it later.
