Zendaya took a funny approach to a recent headline that claimed she was kicked out of a restaurant in Rome because of her outfit. She and her assistant both posted about the rumor on Instagram this week.
Zendaya Responds to Rumor on Instagram Stories
According to a recent headline, Zendaya was denied entry to a restaurant in Rome due to her outfit, which consisted of a black tube top and beige pants. However, according to the star and her assistant, the rumor is totally made-up.
Zendaya took to Instagram stories Monday to post a funny meme from the comic Watchmen, in which one character asks “Source?” and the other character answers, “I made it up.” The post seems to be a response to the rumor.
Her assistant, Darnell Appling, took a more direct approach to denying the report, calling it a “bald head lie” on his own Instagram account. He explained that they simply chose to leave the restaurant after realizing they had eaten there before.
“We all wanted to try a new restaurant and went somewhere else to do so,” Appling wrote. “We actually never went upstairs and interacted with anyone. We talked amongst ourselves in the downstairs lobby. This whole story is a lie.”

The Star Previously Responded to Pregnancy Rumors
This isn’t the first time in recent years that Zendaya has responded to gossip about herself on social media. Last year, she addressed viral rumors that she and her boyfriend Tom Holland were expecting a baby together.
“See now, this is why I stay off Twitter,” she wrote on Instagram stories. “Just making stuff up for no reason weekly.”
Zendaya’s mom, Claire Stoermer, has also spoken out regarding false reports about her daughter. In December, she posted the definition of the word “clickbait” on her Instagram stories amid rumors that Zendaya and Holland were engaged.
