Fans Share Thoughts on the AGT 20th Birthday Special
The AGT subreddit opened a discussion thread during Tuesday’s special, and a number of fans chimed in with their thoughts throughout the night. Several users commented their disappointment that the show aired yet another special instead of kicking off the Season 20 live shows.
“Is this whole episode the most uninteresting thing ever or what? Let’s see some acts face off. PLEASE!!!” wrote one user, while another commented, “I’m just wondering when we’re going to see the acts again from this season. I swear every other week is a special or showing old acts… or is it just me.”
Another user wrote that they “don’t even remember the acts at this point” after watching so many filler episodes this season. Someone else commented that they didn’t even realize the live shows weren’t starting this week until they tuned in.
A couple of fans also expressed disappointment that there was so much focus on the current judging panel, with one person writing, “They should have done a segment about the past judges and hosts.” Someone else agreed, writing, “I was really disappointed by the lack of older content.”

What Else Did Fans Have to Say?
A few fans also made note of the fact that past judge Gabrielle Union was featured in clips during Tuesday’s special. Union was a judge during Season 14 of the show, and she ended up filing a harassment complaint against AGT, claiming it was a toxic work environment.
Union famously pressed the Golden Buzzer for Season 14 winner Kodi Lee, which meant she was featured in clips of his audition. Some fans on Reddit expressed surprise that the show would include her due to how outspoken she was against the series.
The Reddit thread also featured some positive comments, as fans expressed their excitement to watch clips of their favorite acts, such as Season 19 winner Richard Goodall and the infamous repeat auditioner Sethward. Others enjoyed the look back at what the show used to be like, with one fan calling it “simpler times before it became America’s Got Singers.”
