WATCH Vanessa Hudgens Cancel Herself By Mocking Coronavirus Deaths — “Even If Everybody Gets It”
She was full of positivity in High School Musical, but now Vanessa Hudgens is under fire after comments she made about coronavirus. Hudgens took to Instagram Live to discuss her thoughts on the virus and claimed that “even if everybody gets it, like, yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible, but like, inevitable?” This did not go over well with her viewers.
Celebrities On Vanessa Hudgens’ Coronavirus Comments
Hudgens’s comments did not go over well with her fans and celebrities alike. Whether or not the video was meant to be a joke was unclear to them. Actress Olivia Wilde commented, “In a thousand years they’ll dig up our society and find this precious digital moment and be like “mmmm oh okay so this is why they mysteriously disappeared from EARTH.”
Television Host Kirbie Johnson wrote “An incredibly shallow, privileged viewpoint. Not surprised. She’s consistent with cultural appropriation…why not downplay a global pandemic?”
Chrissy Teigen Told Fans To Forgive Vanessa Hudgens
After receiving a ton of backlash for her comments, Chrissy Teigen tweeted in defense of Hudgens. She insisted that fans should forgive her because celebrities make mistakes but don’t deserve to be shunned from society for them, especially during a time where unity is important.
She went on to respond to fans that criticized her for supporting Hudgens. She noted that even she too has made mistakes in the past but she has learned from them. We all know Teigen is never shy to voice her opinions on social media.
Hudgens Issued An Apology
In a video posted on Instagram, Hudgens said that she thinks her comments were “taken out of context” and that she is in lockdown and hopes everyone around her is doing the same. She also tweeted an apology where she realized her words were “insensitive.”
Some fans are still not convinced that Hudgens truly understands just how harsh her words were in a time where people are fearing for their lives.
They felt her apology was not genuine and that she is just trying to save her career from going down the drain. This was what she wrote officially on her Twitter.
