WATCH Simon Cowell Detail How Lauren And His Son Eric Nursed Him Back To Health
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Simon Cowell has been absent from our television screens since he broke his back in August. The ‘AGT’ judge has just appeared in his very first interview since his electric bike accident. He previously had to undergo a six-hour surgery to have a metal rod placed and re-learn to walk. Take a look at the video below to see how Simon has been feeling.
Simon Cowell Is Back On TV With First Interview Since Bike Accident
Simon sat down with his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour who he has maintained a great friendship with over the years on Extra. “First of all it could have been a lot worse,” Simon said about the accident. “When I saw the x-ray, I really nearly smashed my spine to pieces. I literally wouldn’t have been able to walk.”
“On the day it happened, you’re not supposed to move when it happens and it was really kind of like sudden and it hurt and I knew I had broken my back the minute I landed” he added.
“I was thinking you know what I’ve got to get back into the house because I can’t lie there because I saw their faces,” he said. The 61-year-old was in the courtyard of his Malibu home with his family when the accident happened. “You’re not supposed to get up but I made myself kind of get carried into my bedroom which is right at the end of the house and I’m lying there and I’m kind of passing out.”
Check out the What’s Hot Video below for more details on Simon’s accident. Plus we discuss who replaced Simon on the judging panel on ‘AGT.’
Simon Had A Ton Of Support From His Family After The Accident
Simon continued to candidly speak about the accident. “I mean it was just surreal” Simon added. He also said that he remembers Terri and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman waiting outside of the hospital all night long. During the coronavirus pandemic guests have been limited at hospitals to help slow the spread of the virus.
“Lauren was amazing running around after you, nursing you back to health,” Terri said. Simon also commended his 6-year-old son Eric who also helped out his famous father during the recovery process.
“She was amazing both her and Eric were like my support. Couldn’t have got through it without them” Simon gushed. The whole accident brought them even closer.
“I was so embarrassed about coming home and looking about like 100 because I couldn’t walk and I have these metal rods in my back and all of these screws” Simon said. He did not know how to explain the whole situation to Eric.
But Eric said something that really touched his heart. While Simon was lying in bed at home, Eric came in and said “daddy you’re like Iron Man.” Simon described this as the “sweetest thing.”
He Teased His Return To ‘AGT’
Terri asked Simon what the hardest part of the recovery process has been. “It’s that helplessness” Simon confessed. “I have never been in this situation in my life. You literally can’t move. The pain was like off the charts.”
Simon made a promise to himself to be fitter than he was before he had the accident. He ditched his vegan diet to regain his strength and feels that he is in better shape now.
Simon also teased returning to Season 16 of ‘AGT’ after he had to miss out on the live shows last season while recovering. He pointed out that there were hardly any red buzzers used while he was gone. Expect to see Simon put his red buzzer to good use when ‘AGT’ returns to television.
