The Voice Recap: Top 12 Eliminations
It’s elimination night again on The Voice, but this time instead of cutting out contestants down in half, we will be losing one contestant. From a Top 12 to a now Top 11, lets recap tonight’s episode of The Voice and see who will continue on to next week’s live show.
The show started out with the Top 12 being brought on stage to see who’d be the first names called to be saved by America’s vote. It was announced that Team Kelly’s Brynn Cartelli, Team Alicia’s Britton Buchanan, and Team Adam’s Sharane Calister would be the first to enter the Top 11.
The coaches performed with their team, and it brought a new and dynamic element. Getting to see each team collaborate with their individual talents made the performances incredibly strong. First up was Team Kelly who performed to Don’t Take The Money, which was so fun to watch and given that it was Kelly’s birthday she had even more energy than usual!
The contestants were then brought back on stage to continue announcing who would be joining the Top 11. Team Alicia’s Christiana Danielle and Team Blake’s Pryor Baird were the names that were next to be called to move onto the next round.
After a quick and fun performance from Maroon 5 to their hit single Wait, the contestants were again brought out and Team Blake’s Spensha Baker and Team Kelly’s Kaleb Lee were next to be saved by America’s vote.
Blake Shelton took to the stage to perform with his team, choosing the song I Thank You. It was a heartfelt performance and they each brought their individual talent yet performed as a team beautifully.
Finally, it was time for the announcement of the final three guaranteed contestants to join the Top 11 and it went to Team Alicia’s Jackie Foster, Team Blake’s Kyla Jade, and Team Adam’s Jackie Verna. This left D.R. King and Rayshun to perform one last time before determining who will stay in the competition.
D.R. King performed to Papa Was a Rolling Stone and gave this performance his all. Kelly says that she doesn’t understand why D.R. was put in the bottom two, and urges America to vote for him as her birthday present.
Rayshun LaMarr performed the song I Cant Stand the Rain and brought his energy and stage presence to this performance. Adam is dumbfounded that Rayshun is in the bottom two and says that he was one of the highlights of yesterdays performances as well as tonight, and urges America to vote.
Ultimately, Kelly’s birthday wish didn’t come through and it was the end of the road for D.R. King. He had such a great journey this season, and should be so proud!
