The Voice Recap: Top 10 Performances
We’re in the final countdown of Seasons 14’s The Voice, and yesterdays performances did not disappoint. Throwing in the curveball of it being “Challenge Week” the contestants had to perform to a piece that had brought a challenge in their journey. Tonight, we find out which two of these contestants will be sent home before the semifinals next week.
Kyla Jade (Team Blake)
Starting off the night with a bang was Kyla performing This Is Me. Her performance was so raw, as you can tell the lyrics hit hard for her. She even showed a lot of emotion towards the end of the song and was so soulful. Alicia said that Kyla’s presence is riveting, magnificent and stunning. She thanks her for bearing her soul on the stage and letting America experience that with her. Blake says that the audience not only heard her message but felt it. He even goes as far to say that he believes she just punched her ticket for the semi-finals.
Kaleb Lee (Team Kelly)
Singing the song Boondocks, Kaleb brought a new element to his performance tonight. As Adam said, he believes the show has worked the best for Kaleb because his growth has been unbelievable which makes him a winner no matter what. Kelly applauds him for being such an incredible performer and always staying true to himself. She says she’s thrilled that America embraces not only his character but his talent.
Jackie Verna (Team Adam)
Singing Love Triangle, Jackie says she felt like she found her true voice this week. Blake commends her on her delivery and says that the message of her song speaks to a lot of people who’ve experienced having divorced parents. Her coach, Adam, says that he feels that Jackie is truly finding her voice and embracing what makes her a unique singer. He encourages America to vote for Jackie because he says you don’t have to have the loudest voice or performance to be an incredible talent.
Rayshun LaMarr (Team Adam)
Performing to Grant Green, Adam told Rayshun that he felt like he was just watching his concert tonight instead of competing at The Voice. Rayshun has an undeniable talent for performing and engaging with his audience. His excitement and passion come through each time he takes to the stage. Kelly says that he lights up the room every time he performs.
Spensha Baker (Team Blake)
Spensha chose a Taylor Swift’s Red this week, which challenged her to perform a country/pop song. Adam complimented her on her ability to connect to her music and performance, while her coach Blake said this was her best performance so far on The Voice.
Jackie Foster (Team Alicia)
Jackie’s versatility and being able to perform in several different genres makes her unique and tonight she proved that once again. Performing to Gravity by Sara Bareilles showed America a different side of Jackie. Her coach, Alicia says that she thinks this performance was the perfect moment for her. She thanks Jackie for being so vulnerable and allowing America to be taken into her music with her.
Britton Buchanan (Team Alicia)
Singing What’s Love Got to Do With It, Britton’s performance was a win tonight. Adam tells him that he wishes he got to have him on his team, but that he’s so proud of him for all his moments on the show so far. Alicia is thrilled with his performance and urges America to join her in recognizing his growth.
Christiana Danielle (Team Alicia)
Performing to Ain’t No Sunshine, Christiana had an undeniable confidence in this performance that had fans excited and eager to see more. Kelly compliments Christiana on her movement and presence on stage. Her coach Alicia restates that there is no one similar to Christiana not just in the competition but in the music world as a whole.
Pryor Baird (Team Blake)
Performing to My Town, Pryor brings his country meets rock vibe back to the stage tonight and has an incredible performance. Adam gives him the “best screamer” award and compliments how dynamic his voice and performances are. Blake says music fans are realizing that Pryor is one of a kind, and predicts that he will go beyond the top 3.
Brynn Cartelli (Team Kelly)
Dedicating her performance to her mom, Brynn sang the song Fix You. She was so connected to her performance and has a star quality about her. Coach Kelly told her she was born to be on stage.
