Kelsea Ballerini Uses Her Steal in The Voice Knockouts

Going into Monday’s show, Ballerini was the only coach with a steal left for the Knockouts round. She used it after the final Knockout of the night, between Team Adam’s Conor James and Darius J. Conor was a four-chair turn in his Blind Audition, while Darius turned three coaches’ chairs, including Ballerini.

For the Knockouts, Conor chose to sing “Forever Young” by Alphaville, while Darius opted for a cover of “American Boy” by Estelle. Ballerini praised both of the singers for their “beautiful individuality,” joking that it should be illegal for either of them to go home. John Legend, who was a writer on “American Boy,” said Darius made the song “so fresh.”

When it came time to choose one artist as the winner of the Knockout, Adam Levine went with Conor. However, it wasn’t the end of the road for Darius, because Ballerini hit her button to steal him. She had previously tried to steal him in the Battles, but he was saved by Levine and got to stay on the team.

“I’ve been waiting for this for so long!” Ballerini said after she hit her steal button for Darius. She explained that she thinks he’s “so special.” Darius will compete on Ballerini’s team in the Playoffs.

Jadyn was paired up with Kameron Jaso for the Knockouts. She chose to sing “Keep Holding On” by Avril Lavigne, while Kameron performed “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur. John Legend said Jadyn’s voice is “really cool and different.”

Bublé told Jadyn that she doesn’t know “how great you are,” adding that she has “a special voice.” He chose to keep Jadyn on his team for the Playoffs. Unfortunately, that meant that Kameron had to be eliminated from the competition.

American Idol Alum Renzo Wins His Knockout

Monday’s episode also featured a performance by Renzo, who previously competed on American Idol Season 16 under his full name, Dennis Lorenzo. Renzo turned three chairs in his Blind Audition and chose to join John Legend’s team.

For the Knockouts, Legend paired Renzo up with Nell Simmons. Renzo performed “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish, while Nell took on a cover of “Sweet Thing” by Rufus & Chaka Khan. The matchup was so strong, Ballerini said afterwards, “John Legend, what did you do?!”

Adam Levine said that Renzo has a “unicorn energy,” predicting that he can make it to the end of the season. Legend praised his versatility and ability to move between genres. He chose Renzo as the winner of the Knockout, sending him to the Playoffs. Unfortunately, that meant Nell had to be eliminated.
