American Idol 2019

Former The Voice and American Idol contestant Dimitrius Graham was arrested in Los Angeles on Sunday and booked on trespassing charges. The singer has since spoken out about the experience, claiming he suffered a fractured wrist during the arrest.

The Voice Star Dimitrius Graham Arrested

TMZ published video of Graham’s arrest on an L.A. Metro train. The singer was allegedly unable to show his ticket after his phone died. Police reportedly prevented Graham from exiting the train to purchase another ticket.

Graham later took to Instagram to speak about the experience, saying he spent 24 hours in jail “over $1.75 that I paid for.” Although he shared that he doesn’t have a criminal record, he said he’s “been racially profiled multiple times.”

According to Graham, his encounter with police left him with a fractured wrist, and he also lost a veneer. The singer claimed he had to cancel two shows because of the injury and lost $10,000. In his Instagram video, he advised people watching to “know your rights as an American,” adding he was “lucky I went to jail” as he “could have been killed.”

The LAPD told TMZ that Graham was allegedly behaving erratically when police approached him, and he refused to leave the train when asked. A force report was apparently taken after Graham complained about pain, but a supervisor reportedly found no wrongdoing.
