The Voice returns on Monday night with another round of Battles, and the show has shared a preview of a powerhouse matchup on Team Gwen. Alyssa Witrado and Ian Harrison delivered an incredible duet of Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever.”
Team Gwen Artists Battle on The Voice
Alyssa and Ian started the performance softly, taking turns with the lyrics. Then the music kicked up, and the pair got more aggressive, putting some serious emotion into the performance. It turned into an argument in musical form.
Not to mention, both singers showed off an amazing vocal performance. At one point, coaches John Legend and Camila Cabello sat up from their chairs. As Legend said when the performance was over, “I loved that. That was so good. You were both so freaking cool.”
Cabello said that Alyssa’s performance blew her mind, joking that she was going to “start a Twitter fan account for this girl.” However, she said that “with the right song,” she would start an account for Ian as well.
Coach Gwen Stefani had a lot to say about Alyssa and Ian’s Battle. She told Ian that he has her “favorite kind of voice” for a male singer, adding that he has “so much range.” Meanwhile, she told Alyssa, “I think I wanna be you when I grow up.”
Alyssa sang No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” for her Blind Audition. Stefani said that performance was “the first time probably in my entire career that I was like, ‘Actually, that was pretty good. I liked that.'”
Stefani said she was having a hard time making a decision, adding that the way she was leaning was not what she expected going into the Battle. The coach already used up her save on Destiny Leigh earlier in the season, so she won’t be able to keep both singers on her team.
We’ll find out which artist Stefani chose as the winner when The Voice Season 22 returns Monday night at 8/7c on NBC.
