This season of AGT, longtime judge Heidi Klum chose not to return to the panel. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans believe her new hosting gig on Project Runway might have had something to do with her departure. Klum is returning to the fashion design show for the first time since 2017.
Ahead of the July 31 premiere on Freeform, the show has announced this season’s guest judges. They include Michael Kors, Nikki Glaser, Mickey Guyton, Zac Posen, Christian Cowan, Sara Foster, Jenna Lyons, Harris Reed, and Joan Smalls.
The most notable name on the list for fans of AGT is Sofia Vergara, who appears in the show’s Instagram preview wearing an oversized mustard yellow pantsuit with long straight hair. She and Klum used to sit next to each other on the AGT panel, and they have remained friends off screen.
It’s not the first time Vergara has appeared on one of Klum’s shows. In 2023, she made a guest appearance on Germany’s Next Topmodel, which Klum has hosted since 2006. It’s not clear yet which episode of Project Runway will feature Vergara.

The Show Is on Freeform This Season
Season 21 of Project Runway is set to premiere July 31 on Freeform. It will also be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+. This is the show’s first season on Freeform, having previously aired on either Bravo or Lifetime.
In addition to the return of Heidi Klum as the show’s host, the new season will also feature past winner Christian Siriano as a mentor, with Nina Garcia returning as a judge alongside newcomer Law Roach.
Earlier this month, the official Project Runway Instagram account previewed this season’s contestants, sharing a compilation of clips showing the 12 hopeful designers when they found out they would be joining the show.
