The Voice has shared an early release audition from Monday’s new episode of Season 28, featuring a country singer named Cori Kennedy. Cori turned two coaches’ chairs with her cover performance, after which she played an original song for the panel.
Cori Kennedy Performs Coach Tribute on The Voice
For her Blind Audition on The Voice, Cori Kennedy performed “Why Not Me” by The Judds, showing off a strong country voice while strumming the guitar. Reba McEntire was the first coach to turn her chair, followed quickly by Michael Bublé.
Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg chose not to turn around, but they clearly enjoyed Cori’s performance. Afterward, the singer introduced herself as a 28-year-old from Minnesota. She told the coaches that she wrote a song about meeting them, and they encouraged her to play it.
The song had some clever lyrics about her journey to the show, with cute references to the coaches. As she sang to McEntire, “Miss Reba, you raised me right on that sitcom screen / A single mom who works two jobs, my redhead ‘Fancy’ queen.”
Cori finished the song by singing, “I’m not sure what I’ve done or why they even picked me / I must be doing something right, I’m singing on NBC.”

What Did the Coaches Have to Say?
All four coaches gave Cori a standing ovation for her original song. McEntire told Cori, “I’m just so thrilled to be back on The Voice, and to hear your voice on that stage singing. It just took me back to Tennessee. Makes me homesick.”
Bublé also praised Cori’s voice, saying there are hints of Stevie Nicks mixed with the country tone. Then he showed off his funny socks, which had Reba McEntire’s face all over them. He joked, “Hey, Niall, you should see the underwear I’m wearing.”
We’ll have to wait until Monday’s new episode of The Voice to find out which coach’s team Cori chose to join. Who do you think she picked? Let us know in the comments below.
