Rumors Spreading That Ryan Seacrest Will Have Smaller Role On ‘American Idol’

By now we all know that Ryan Seacrest, host of the upcoming reboot of American Idol, is in deep trouble. This comes after allegations that he sexually harassed his former stylist Suzie Hardy. For now American Idol, E! Entertainment, and Kelly Ripa are all standing by Seacrest. But the rumors is that they are re-editing the show to de-emphasize him.

ABC is in a tough spot. They have signed a multimillion dollar contract with Seacrest which would be extremely expensive for them to break and embarrassing for them to fire. But if any more allegations come out against Seacrest or they see that it hurts Idol’s ratings, they will surely fire him. One way to get around that is to strategically edit Ryan’s part down. I already see that he is barely in the promos. I noticed during the several American Idol promos during the Oscars that Ryan was barely in it.

Think about that. Not only is he the host, he’s also the only holdover from the original series. Not to mention the fact that he’s the second highest paid performer on the show after Katy Perry. To not use him prominently in the ads does not bode well for Seacrest. They’ve already shot some episodes so they can’t eliminate him completely but they can edit around him…I wonder if he’ll make it to the live shows.
