Reba McEntire Is ‘The Voice’ Season 23 Mega Mentor

Country star Reba McEntire has been announced as a Mega Mentor on The Voice Season 23. The show is set to return on NBC March 6. McEntire will appear during the Knockout round to help the coaches prepare their artists’ performances.
Reba McEntire Is ‘The Voice’ Season 23 Mega Mentor
Variety reported the news this week that McEntire will appear on Season 23 as a Mega Mentor. Past Mega Mentors in recent years have included Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Snoop Dogg. McEntire will advise artists who make it through the Battle round.
Last season, the show didn’t have a Mega Mentor during the Knockouts. Usually, the Battle round also features celebrity guests in the form of Battle Advisors. However, those names haven’t been announced for the upcoming season.
This isn’t McEntire’s first time on The Voice. She previously appeared as coach Blake Shelton’s Battle Advisor all the way back in the show’s first season. She also has a connection to coach Kelly Clarkson, who is her former daughter-in-law.

This Season Introduces the ‘Playoff Pass’
Season 23 of The Voice will introduce a new twist in the Battle round. Instead of the usual save, coaches will be able to use something called the “Playoff Pass,” which allows both artists in a Battle to skip the Knockouts and go straight to the Playoffs. This is in addition to the steal, which allows them to take another coach’s rejected artist for their team.
The Playoffs will take place after the Knockouts, as 20 contestants will compete for a spot in the live Semifinals. Each of the coaches will only be able to choose two artists to advance to the next round of the competition. Live shows will reportedly begin on May 15.
Season 23 of The Voice kicks off March 6. This will be veteran coach Blake Shelton’s final season, and will also mark the return of Kelly Clarkson after she took Season 22 off. New coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper are also joining the show.
