Priyanka Chopra Shares Social Media Frustrations, Denies Divorce Rumor

I think it’s safe to say everyone’s heart skipped a beat when Priyanka Chopra took her surname “Jonas” off of her social media. After two months of divorce rumors, Chopra expressed that the experience was “a professional hazard.”
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas divorce rumors began on TikTok mid November 2021. These rumors began when a fan of the two noticed that the actress had removed her surname from her Instagram and posted it on TikTok. They shared that the two might be on “divorce watch” after only three years of marriage. The TikToker was simply sharing the happening that first debuted on a Bollywood Reddit thread.
Since these rumors, Chopra shared photos attempting to confirm that her relationship has not crumbled. These attempts included an Instagram throwback picture of Jonas with her and her family, as well as cozy photos of the two together.
Couple Reminds Fans, Instagram Is Not Reality
In 2022, the actress has finally spoken out. She expresses that social media isn’t reflective of her entire life. The actress took this moment to emphasize that celebrity life on social media is like living under a microscope.
“It’s a very vulnerable feeling, actually, that if I post a picture, everything that’s behind me in that picture is going to be zoomed in on, and people are going to speculate,” Priyanka said to Vanity Fair. “It’s just a professional hazard…. Because of the noise of social media, because of the prevalence that it has in our lives, I think it seems a lot larger than it is. I think that we give it a lot more credence in real life, and I don’t think it needs that.”
This isn’t the first time that Chopra has received backlash on Instagram this past year. This actress received criticism alongside DWTS veteran Julianne Hough about upcoming series, The Activist. This series funded by Global Citizen originally featured six activists battling head-to-head for the chance to win the competition. Hough had publicly apologized on behalf of her involvement and two days later Chopra shared a similar message.
Chopra Shares Frustration With Being Under Public Microscope
Since all of this occured, Chopra has been open about her frustration. This actress has a past of working with Global Citizen, so she knows the type of work they do. She acknowledged that this situation was never intentional. At the end of the day, the frustration of social media has gotten under her skin multiple times.
“It makes me sad because I try to live my life as a good person every day, doing the best I can, just like everyone else,” Chopra said. “It would just be nice to be seen for that sometimes.”
Jonas confirms that he has never seen his wife become overwhelmed by fame. He expresses that the couple has a strict line between their professional and personal lines set. With these boundaries, they have created a safe haven that involves their loved ones.
