PREVIEW: New Challengers on ‘The Four’ This Week
The Four Episode 6. The stakes are raised as we near the finale of this season of The Four! The seated members are definitely feeling the pressure going into this week. And all the previews for this week’s episode say that everyone will face their toughest competition yet! Plus, apparently there’s going to be a HUGE upset. So let’s preview the challengers who will be competing for a spot in The Four this week.
JeRonelle Mcghee is an R&B singer/songwriter originally from Omaha. He moved out to LA to pursue music just over two years ago, shortly after graduating from Clark Atlanta University. JeRonelle draws his inspiration from two generations of artists—from Donny Hathaway to Daryl Coley to John Legend. In the preview of his audition, JeRonelle starts the performance of “Too Close” by Alex Clare by showcasing his instantly outstanding, smooth vocals and runs. He seems like he could compete one-on-one with either James or Noah at this point. And both of them look like they’re nervously watching his performance!
Let’s start by getting this out of the way. Leah-Jenea is only 17 years old. 17! She is a hip-hop/soul singer and songwriter, born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She auditioned for The Voice in Season 10, at age 15, but failed to turn a chair. Leah-Jenea Gaines returned to television by auditioning for The Four with Daniel Caesar’s “Best Part.” And wow, that high note! She is clearly super talented and I would personally love to see her on The Four! The problem is, the seated contestants are already so strong it’s hard to imagine who she would take on. Could she be the beast that finally takes down OG-Four member James Graham? That would certainly be a huge upset just two weeks before the finale!
AJ Reynolds of Durham, New Hampshire, is a rapper and songwriter. He is 22 years old and has already released a 13-track album. From the preview of his audition, you can tell he’s a dynamic performer with a lot of energy and charisma. I mean, look at that footwork! He is performing his original rap, “Cheeks.” If he does earn a challenge, and go head-to-head Sharaya J as expected, I don’t see him taking her seat. But if the biggest upset in the show’s history is happening tonight, I won’t rule it out!
Anthony Gargiula is coming to The Four ready to EAT! You may remember him from early appearances on Ellen and The Today Show, his popular Vine account, or from the fact that he’s YouTube star James Charles’ best friend. Anthony started writing music at a young age and grew up loving to sing. Now 19 years old, Anthony will be looking to challenge The Four tonight. From the previews, it looks like he’s taking on Ali Caldwell. But will he be able to
Honestly, all of these singers seem pretty solid so it’s hard to say who’s going to be the one to upset the massively successful and hugely popular current members of The Four. Since the preview makes the upset such a big deal, I feel like it has to be either Sharaya J or James Graham going home. But if that does happen, it’s almost a guarantee that they would return for the Comeback next week!
