Nick Cannon Addresses Sub Role on Beat Shazam
The Wild ‘N Out star will temporarily serve as host of Beat Shazam season six while Foxx is nursing his health complication. During the premiere episode, Cannon snatched a moment to shed light to viewers regarding his role in the game series.
“Welcome to Beat Shazam,” he said. “Now, I know what you all are thinking, ‘That aint Jamie Foxx.’ And you are absolutely right. I’m actually Nick Cannon, and I am honored that Jamie asked me to fill in for him. So make no mistake, this is Jamie Foxx’s house.”
The rapper then noted that Foxx has hosted the show for five seasons and awarded nearly $12 million to contenders. Recognizing the big shoes he needs to fill in, Cannon stated that he’ll try his “best to live up to Jamie’s Beat Shazam legacy.”
Also, Corinne Foxx will also not be present in the show as she is seizing some “daddy-daughter time” with Jamie. Consequently, Kelly Osbourne will take her place as Beat Shazam DJ for the meantime.
In a message posted to the series’ Instagram account, FOX Entertainment sent their well-wishes to Foxx amid the trying time. Subsequently, they thanked Cannon for his “willingness to jump in and help this summer.”
Jamie Foxx is On His Way to Recovery
Three weeks before FOX’s announcement, Corinne told Beat Shazam fans that her father had “experienced a medical complication.” Despite this alarming news though, she didn’t share any specific details about Jamie’s health problem.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” she wrote. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.”
At the time, Cannon was among the numerous celebrities who hoped for Foxx’s fast recovery.
“I’ve literally been saying prayers out loud,” he said. “Words of affirmations for my big brother.”
Luckily, it seems that the og Beat Shazam host is coping well. In her May 12 Instagram Story, Corinne shared that Jamie has been out of the hospital for a while.
“Update from the family,” Corinne wrote. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”
