The Voice coach Niall Horan will unfortunately be unable to perform with his artists during Tuesday’s Season 28 finale, as he has been put on vocal rest. Instead, fellow coach Reba McEntire will apparently step in to perform in his place.
The Voice coach Niall Horan has two artists in the finale this season — Aiden Ross and DEK of Hearts. During Tuesday’s show, the finalists are set to perform duets with their respective coaches. Unfortunately, Horan will have to sit things out.
During Monday’s live performance episode, host Carson Daly shared that coach Horan had been feeling “under the weather,” and he almost missed the show because of it. Horan acknowledged that it had been “a rough couple of weeks,” but he was feeling “a little bit better.”
“Sadly, I won’t have the opportunity to sing with these guys,” Horan said, referring to DEK of Hearts, who had just performed. “The doctor has put me on vocal rest. But my good friend Reba, I have to thank her. She’s gonna step in and help me out. She’s gonna perform with the guys tomorrow night.”
McEntire said she was proud of Horan for taking care of himself, “because we want you around with your beautiful voice for many years to come.”

Fans Noticed Horan Was Absent from Promo
Even before Niall Horan shared that he was on vocal rest, The Voice fans had suspected that something was wrong when the coach was noticeably absent from a recent promo. The clip, posted on Instagram, featured Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg.
Fans in the comments wondered where Horan was, with one person writing, “Love you all but where is King Niall?” The Sun points out that Horan did appear in another recent promo, so his absence might not have been due to illness.
