Former Dancing with the Stars pro Sasha Farber will be making an appearance on American Idol Season 24 this week for the new Ohana Round. Farber will be part of a panel of industry experts who will judge the Top 30’s performances.
DWTS Pro Sasha Farber to Appear on American Idol
Last week, American Idol finished up its notorious Hollywood Week, as the competition was narrowed down to the Top 30 contestants. Those contestants will now perform at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii for a new Ohana Round, starting Monday night on ABC.
The contestants will be judged by a group of “industry tastemakers,” as well as their fellow finalists and family members. Three contestants will earn the coveted Platinum Ticket, and the competition will be narrowed down to just 20 singers.
It was recently announced that former DWTS pro Sasha Farber is among the group of experts who will be watching the Top 30 perform. Farber is a ballroom dancer who joined DWTS in Season 8. Although he didn’t compete last season, he was still involved in the show through social media.

Who Else Will Be Appearing in This Round?
The other industry experts to be featured during American Idol‘s Ohana Round reportedly include social media personalities Kaniyia Brown & Terry McCaskill, musician Anthony Gargiula, singer Loren Gray, Rolling Stone editor Shirley Halperin, vocal coach Cheryl Porter, and Grand Ole Opry announcer Kelly Sutton.
“The judges will comment, and at the end, each of the groups will pick their favorite person,” Idol showrunner Megan Michaels Wolflick told Deadline. “Those three people will get the platinum ticket. Back in the day, Kris Allen would have been the pick of the people and Adam Lambert probably would have been the industry pick. I’m super curious who the [potential] Idols are going to pick because they can’t vote for themselves.”
Catch the first episode of American Idol‘s new Ohana Round Monday night at 8/7c on ABC, and streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
