According to a January Instagram post from Natalie Jane, VanderWaal was scheduled to appear on her tour as an opening act during the European leg, with dates in April and May. However, VanderWaal took to her own Instagram on Monday to share that she would have to pull out of performing on the tour.

“Hi everyone, it’s been a bit. I’m happy to be back and talk to y’all,” VanderWaal wrote in her message to fans. “I unfortunately will not be going on the Natalie Jane tour due to mental health. I’ve been struggling for a while and am choosing myself in this moment.”

VanderWaal apologized to fans who might be disappointed by the news, adding, “I love you so much and will be singing very soon. Thank you guys for understanding.”

Natalie Jane commented on the 22-year-old singer’s post, writing, “Health comes first always!!!” The Voice host Carson Daly also chimed in to write, “Mental Health is health. Wish more young artists would be as honest w themselves as you are being. Good on you.”

The Singer’s Mother Passed Away Last Year

In October of last year, Grace VanderWaal shared the sad news that her mother Tina had passed away at the age of 53 after battling breast cancer for many months. VanderWaal paid tribute to her mom with a series of photos and videos on Instagram.

“Can’t yet find the words. I love you mommy. So much. I wake up and want to call you. I don’t know how to move forward without you. I love you,” VanderWaal wrote to caption the heartfelt post.

The singer has also opened up in the past about the effect that winning AGT at 12 years old had on her mental health, saying in 2022 that she has “definitely faced the mental repercussions of that growing up,” adding, “I keep learning about how to take care of myself better and my biggest thing recently is just acknowledging your triggers.”
