Luke Bryan Is The Second ‘American Idol’ Judge
After weeks of rumors, ABC officially announced that country star Luke Bryan will be joining Katy Perry at the judge’s table when the American Idol reboot airs early next year.
We reported on rumors that Bryan was the front runner for the second spot. It makes sense. American Idol no doubt wants to replicated the success Blake Shelton has had with country singers on The Voice. Bryan is a popular singer and songwriter, especially with fans of country pop. ABC has had a difficult time finding judges because they blew their entire talent budget on Katy Perry (25 million) and host Ryan Seacrest (13 million). Supposedly they are offering potential judges lucrative side deals with ABC’s parent company Disney.
The question now becomes: who will take the third spot on the judge’s stand? You can’t just have two judges. There needs to be a tie-breaker. Plus it just looks weird to have two judges. Reportedly Lionel Richie was in talks to come on board but those fell through. Probably over money. Too bad. Lionel Richie is amazing.
