The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson finally settled her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, after first filing in June 2020. Anyone who’s been following the proceedings knows that it hasn’t always been smooth. Now Clarkson is paying Blackstock over $1 million, in addition to child support.

Kelly Clarkson Settles Divorce from Brandon Blackstock

The Blast obtained court documents that show Clarkson will give Blackstock a one-time, tax-free payment of over $1.3 million, in addition to monthly child support payments of $45,601 for their kids River Rose and Remington Alexander. These payments reportedly began February 1. Clarkson will also pay Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 31, 2024.

Clarkson and Blackstock have joint custody of their children, but the kids will be living in Los Angeles with Clarkson while Blackstock lives at their Montana ranch for now. However, the settlement gives both of their Montana properties to Clarkson, and Blackstock will pay her $2,000 a month until June.

The settlement also reportedly states that the couple has agreed to vaccinate the kids against COVID-19. Clarkson also agreed to reimburse Blackstock $50,000 for the kids’ private air travel to visit him before being vaccinated. The singer will also keep the family’s pets living with her in Los Angeles.

Clarkson will also reportedly get “all guns acquired prior and during the marriage,” as well as additional hunting gear. She’ll also get several vehicles, including a pick-up truck and a Porsche Cayenne. Items from the couple’s Tennessee property will be sold at auction.

Blackstock, meanwhile, will get the family’s “farm cattle, livestock, stock dogs, and horses.” He’ll also get several Ford vehicles, CAT snowmobiles, and the couple’s “golf simulator.”

The Couple’s Divorce Got Messy Over the Years

Clarkson first filed from divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after almost seven years of marriage, meaning their divorce proceedings have lasted almost two years. During that time, things have gotten messy between the couple. In September 2020, Clarkson admitted that her “life has been a little bit of a dumpster.”

That same month, Clarkson was sued by Starstruck Management Group, which is owned by Blackstock’s family. Blackstock’s father Narvel claimed that Clarkson owed them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. Clarkson filed a countersuit claiming the management group violated the California Labor Code.

“It’s tough,” Clarkson said about co-parenting last year. “I know with me and Brandon, it’s just a difficult thing because we’re in different places, and it’s like, we both agree on the main things, but it’s a hard thing when you’re not together all the time, for me personally.”

In addition to being declared legally single last year, Clarkson is also changing her name. The singer reportedly filed documents earlier this year to legally change her name to Kelly Brianne. Brianne is Clarkson’s middle name. A court date to review the petition for the name change is set for March 28.
