Kelly Clarkson Kicks Off Las Vegas Residency
Clarkson’s new Las Vegas residency, Studio Sessions, was originally supposed to start on July 4. However, shortly before the concert was due to begin, Clarkson told fans that she was postponing the first two shows in order to rest her voice and “protect myself from doing serious damage.”
Many fans were disappointed that Clarkson made the announcement so close to showtime, with some complaining that they had spent money on travel and accommodations in order to be in Las Vegas for the concert.
“It took us a minute … took me a minute. I’m so sorry if some of y’all had tickets to last weekend’s shows,” Clarkson told the crowd when she finally took the stage on July 11. “We can’t help our body sometimes … if we get sick. But thank you all so much for showing up.”
According to Billboard, Clarkson’s Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace will include 16 total shows, running into November of this year. The shows which had to be postponed have yet to be rescheduled.

Clarkson Did a Shot of Tequila
During Friday’s show, one of the fans in the audience reportedly gave Clarkson a shot of tequila to drink. According to People, Clarkson told the crowd, “I’m celebrating because I had to cancel last weekend. I cried. I was so sick, it sucked. I’m so happy to be here.”
Clarkson’s new residency is meant to feel like she’s in the recording studio, so she reportedly wore a T-shirt and jeans for most of the show. She later changed into a glamorous gown for the encore, sharing, “I’m a sweaty mother right now.”
In addition to performing her own music, Clarkson also kept up her popular Kellyoke tradition by covering Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Parton will reportedly perform a residency at Caesars Palace starting in December.
