Kanye West is not backing down from the presidential race after announcing he would be running for office back on July 4th. The rapper opened up in an interview with Forbes about literally everything under the sun involving his campaign, his advisors, and surviving the pandemic that is sweeping the nation.
Kanye West Has Brought On Kim Kardashian And Elon Musk As Advisors
During the interview, Kanye said that he just registered to vote for the first time which is appropriate since he will be running for President. After surviving COVID-19 which he never made public until now, Kanye is ready to focus on his political campaign and he tried to make it clear that it was not a ploy to promote his upcoming album, God’s Country. As for his COVID-19 symptoms, he said he had “Chills, shaking in the bed, taking hot showers, looking at videos telling me what I’m supposed to do to get over it. I remember someone had told me Drake had the coronavirus and my response was Drake can’t be sicker than me!”

When it comes to presidential advisors, right now he is entrusting the advice of his wife Kim Kardashian and longtime friend Elon Musk. “I proposed to him to be the head of our space program,” he said about Musk. Both Elon and Kim publicly displayed their support for Kanye’s presidential bid on social media after it was announced. And of course, everyone wants to know who Kanye’s running mate would be. Michelle Tidball, is Kanye’s proposed VP, a 57-year-old biblical life coach that runs her own Bible study program in Wyoming where Kanye owns a ranch. Because there are already candidates for both major political parties running, Kanye said that he will be running for the Birthday Party. “Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday,” he said.
Kanye Spoke About The George Floyd Case And How He Wants To End Police Brutality
In the wake of George Floyd’s death, Kanye spoke about what he would do as President to end police brutality. In particular, he spoke about one of the cops jailed for the murder, J. Alexander Kueng, who was only on his third day of the job when the deadly arrest occurred. “This man was put in a position where—and also he probably didn’t realize that the cop was going to take it that far, he probably was so scared, in shock, paralyzed, like so many Black people. I’m one of the few Black people that would speak openly like this.”
This comes after Kanye set up a 529 education plan for Gianna, Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter. This will fully cover all costs when she goes to college in the future. This donation comes after protests took place not only countrywide but globally to demand justice for the black community. The rapper has made separate $2 million of donations to help cover the costs for the families that had to hire legal teams in the cases of Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. It also seems like Kanye is willing to run for office again in 2024 if his 2020 campaign doesn’t land him in the Oval Office.
