Jimmie Allen’s Sexual Assault Lawsuit Delayed Due to Missed Deadlines

Rising Country star Jimmie Allen is still dealing with sexual assault allegations. The trial for the 2023 claims was originally set to begin on June 24, but was postponed on May 28 due to Allen missing deadlines.
Jimmie Allen Misses Court Deadlines Due to Attorney Health
Jimmie Allen’s sexual assault case has officially been pushed back. Apparently, the case was pushed back due to multiple missing court deadlines, as well as missing court documents. The trial was originally scheduled to begin on June 24 in Federal Courthouse in Nashville, TN. U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger postponed the trial on May 28.
For those who may not remember, in 2023, Allen was convicted of sexual assault by a woman, whose identity has been withheld. Within the case, the woman is referenced to as “Jane Doe.” In June 2023, Jane Doe accused Allen of sexually assaulting her in a Las Vegas hotel and recording the encounter on his cell phone without her consent. Allen, at the time, denied the unconsented encounter and recording.
In an email, Jane Doe’s attorney, Beth Fegan explained that Allen has not only delayed the trial but retraumatized her client. Within the statement, Fegan says “Each missed deadline and ignored obligation reinforces the imbalance of power she has fought so hard to expose.”
The country singer, on the other hand, admitted that his former local attorney Alandis Brassel was having health issues. Due to the health issues, Allen failed to comply with court orders.
“I have worked as well as I could, as fast as I could with my representation,” Allen said. “It’s not from me not meeting the deadlines, it’s because my attorney actually couldn’t do it.”
Allen’s former attorney has since closed his practice and moved out of Tennessee. At this time, Allen has an out-of-state attorney, but no representation local to Tennessee.
Jane Doe’s Attorney Says Country Singer is “Acting in Bad Faith.”
In a court filing, Fegan wrote that Allen has “made a litany of excuses — from busy schedules to a carousel of counsel.” The attorney is now asking U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger to rule in her client’s favor as a sanction against Allen.
The attorney then pointed to the country singer’s missed deadlines, as well as failure to produce documents in discovery and the fact that his attorney canceled an important event one business day before it was scheduled. This allegedly costed the plaintiffs nearly $6,000. Instead, Fegan insinuates that allen should’ve found a new local lawyer in judge’s ordered time frame.
“We are pursuing sanctions and judgment not only to hold Mr. Allen accountable for his conduct in this litigation, but also to prevent him from continuing to manipulate the legal process to his advantage,” Fegan wrote in the emailed statement.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Allen’s failure to meet deadlines has already hurt this case. Shortly after Jane Doe sued the country singer, he countersued. His case depended on him providing his cell phone he used to record the sexual encounter. In December, Allen failed to produce that record to the court. This case, in turn, was thrown away by the judge.
In March, Allen’s other case against him was settled and dropped. This case was created by the singer’s former day-to-day manager who alleged that Allen sexually abused, harassed and raped her.
