It’s the Season of Girl Dads on ‘Dancing with the Stars’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars has turned out to be quite the season for girl dads. Currently, three of the remaining celebrity contestants — The Miz, Iman Shumpert, and Jimmie Allen — are fathers of daughters.
All three of these men have expressed their love for their children on the show, especially when the theme of the week’s dance relates to family. Off screen, their kids are enthusiastic about the competition.
The Miz Wows Daughters with ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Costume
On Disney Heroes Night, WWE star The Miz danced the Quickstep as the Genie from Aladdin. Before his performance he talked about his family with partner Witney Carson. The Miz has two daughters — 2-year-old Madison and 3-year-old Monroe.
“I love being a girl dad,” The Miz shared during a trip to Disneyland. “Honestly, we have an entire closet full of just costumes that we all just wear all the time.”
Speaking of costumes, the star used his Genie transformation to surprise his daughters after the show. The Miz posted on Instagram that he drove home in the makeup so they could see him. His wife Maryse teased the grand entrance. The wrestler posted the adorable reaction video on Instagram.

He also shared a video of himself dancing with his daughters in the kitchen while still dressed as the Genie. “All you can hope for as a parent is to make all your child’s dreams come true,” he wrote. “Last night, thanks to @dancingabc and @disney, I got to do just that!”
The Miz also shared on Instagram that Monroe and Madison ask him to dance with them every day since he’s been on Dancing with the Stars. “They see how hard I practice and they want to help too,” he wrote. “I love it when they ask me to dance with them. It warms my heart.”
Iman Shumpert Dances to ‘Let It Go’ for His Daughters
Basketball player Iman Shumpert also paid tribute to his daughters during Disney Heroes Night. He and his partner Daniella Karagach danced the Foxtrot to “Let It Go” from Frozen. He shared that his daughters, 6-year-old Junie and 1-year-old Rue Rose, love the movie.
“My daughters watch Frozen as much as they can,” Shumpert said. “This is a dream come true for them.”
Shumpert also shared that he delivered both of his daughters himself, as his wife Teyana Taylor couldn’t make it to the hospital in time. He called being a father “the best job that I’ve ever had.” On Instagram before the season premiered, he shared a cute video of his daughter Junie encouraging fans to vote for her dad.
Jimmie Allen Dedicates ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Performance to His Family
Singer Jimmie Allen is a girl dad and a boy dad. He has a 7-year-old son named Aadyn, a 1-year-old daughter named Naomi, and a newborn daughter named Zara. She was born just a couple of weeks ago. As revealed on the show, Allen flew to Nashville to make sure he was there for her birth.
During last week’s Horror Night, Allen and his partner Emma Slater danced a haunting Contemporary routine inspired by the film A Quiet Place. He shared that he can relate to the feeling of wanting to keep your children safe. Slater encouraged him to bring those emotions into the performance.
“I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t do to protect my kids,” Allen said during rehearsals. “When you become a parent, you realize that nothing else matters.”
We love seeing these dads gush about their kids on TV, and it’s great to see how their families have inspired their performances. We’re sure their kids have loved watching them dance. The Dancing with the Stars competition is heating up, so we’ll have to wait and see how many dads make it to the finals.
