Kehlani Comes Out as a Lesbian on TikTok
Kehlani’s TikTok video in which she comes out has since been deleted, but fans have posted it on Twitter. In the clip, taken in the singer’s car, Kehlani says people were “bringing it up,” so she decided to “just f*cking say it.”
“Well, it’s f*cking true,” Kehlani said of the recent Instagram Live video in which they first said they were a lesbian. “I am gay, ga-gay, gay, gay.”
So what was her family’s response when she came out to them? Apparently, they already knew. Kehlani joked that “the f*cking closet was glass,” and she was the last to know.
“So I guess I just wanted y’all to know that everyone knew but me,” Kehlani, whose pronouns on social media are she/they, said to finish off the announcement.
What Has Kehlani Said About Her Sexuality in the Past?
Kehlani, whose band Poplyfe came in fourth place on AGT Season 6, has been open about her sexuality in the past. According to Bustle, the singer tweeted that they were “queer” in 2018.
“Not bi, not straight. I’m attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non-binary people, intersex people, trans people,” Kehlani reportedly wrote at the time. “Lil poly pansexual papi hello good morning. Does that answer your questions?”
She said she thought calling herself gay “insisted there was still a line drawn as to which ‘label’ of human I was attracted.” The star added that they were actually “walking around thinking ERRYBODY FINE.”
Kehlani has a daughter named Adeya Nomi with guitarist Javaughn Young-White. The singer told People that they’re raising Adeya around friends and family who are “loudly queer,” so she’ll feel loved no matter what.
