Kehlani Negative Headlines

The nominations for next year’s Grammys are in, and some singers were just snubbed, and people are not happy. One such name is Kehlani; she didn’t receive any nominations for her third album It Was Good Until It Wasnt, which was just released this past May.

Kehlani Snubbed By The Grammys

Kehlani has been nominated for a Grammy in the past couple of years before, in 2016 she was nominated for Best Contemporary Urban Album for You Should Be Here. She’s also worked with some famous singers such as Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, Justin Bieber, and Zayne.

The singer took to Twitter to express to her 2.1 million followers that even though she wasn’t nominated, she is still celebrating the other singers who were; on Twitter, she posted, “honored to be a part of some nominated albums!! so happy for friends of mine for these moments!!! leshhhgooooo.”

The singer is currently 25 years old and is from Oakland, California. She’s described her ethnicity as Black, White, Native American, Filipino, Mexican, and Spanish, and has identified herself as Pansexual. The R&B singer started her career by releasing three mixtapes and a debut album called SweetSexySavage as well as two other albums after that, which landed her a couple of nominations.

Aside from her career, she’s also a mother and gave birth over a year ago to a baby girl named Adeya Nomi, who she had with Javaughn Young-White, her guitarist. When it comes to her love life, she was recently dating rapper YG who also is a parent to two daughters, but they had broken up just at the beginning of 2020 after a few months of dating.

Kehlani Began her Music Career on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Even though Kehlani has a huge following at the moment and has successful music, it all started in 2011 years ago on Americas Got Talent When just at 16-years-old she auditioned for the show with her band PopLyfe, who eventually placed third in the finals. Still, she was told to leave the band and unfortunately found herself homeless.

Nick Cannon, who was the host of the show at the time, was concerned about the young singer and reached out to her; he spoke on Vlad TV about helping Kehlani get herself back on her feet and eventually helping her finish High School and her career as a singer.

“My heart bled. I was like, I gotta go find her. There’s a 16-year-old homeless, and everyone in the town was like ‘she’s all tatted up now,’ and I was like fu*k all that, I don’t care about the tats,” he told VladTV.

“I just want to make sure she’s okay, found her, ended up having a conversation with her guardian at the time because her mom wasn’t doing too well.”
