Everything to Know About New High-Tech Singing Competition ‘Alter Ego’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
There’s a new singing competition premiering this fall on FOX called Alter Ego. The concept sounds similar to The Masked Singer, only with real people instead of celebrities. The show is set to premiere this fall after The Masked Singer Season 6. That time slot used to belong to Game of Talents, which puts the Wayne Brady show in limbo.
‘Alter Ego’ to Premiere This Fall With Famous Judges
Alter Ego will have a star-studded and eclectic judging panel. The table will feature singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, pop star Grimes, 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, and Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am. The show will be hosted by TV personality Rocsi Diaz.
The show is being described as “the world’s first avatar singing competition series.” Singers will create an alter ego for themselves, and they’ll perform using motion capture technology. It sounds like a more high-tech version of the costumes on The Masked Singer.
The show shared a preview of what we can expect, and the word “avatar” certainly seems to fit, as contestants become CGI characters. Will this just be another gimmick that falls flat, or will it turn into another Masked Singer-style success? Only time will tell.

When Does the New Show Premiere?
Alter Ego is set to air on Wednesday nights this fall, premiering after The Masked Singer Season 6. In the spring, that time slot belonged to Game of Talents, which has yet to be renewed for a second season.
We don’t know the exact fall premiere date for The Masked Singer, but the show recently shared a preview that has fans guessing about what we can expect in the new season. All we know so far is that it will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday nights on FOX.
What do you think about the new show Alter Ego? Will you give it a try, or do you think it’s bound to be a one-season wonder? Let us know.
