Brynn Cartelli “I Don’t Want To Be Brynn From ‘The Voice’ Forever”
Brynn Cartelli is just one week removed from her big win of this season of The Voice. But she’s already thinking beyond the show. For only being 15 she’s got a lot of ambition and drive and she doesn’t just want to be Brynn who won The Voice forever.
That’s smart thinking. One thing that happens to a lot of performers on these reality competition shows is that they are forever linked to the show and for many in the industry it carries a stigma. That’s unfair but it’s the fact. What you have to somehow do is be so successful that people might mention that being on one of these shows is how you got your start but not what defines you as an artist. Think Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson, for example. Brynn says,
“I don’t want to be ‘Brynn from The Voice’ forever. I am so glad that was my start. I want to be my own artist and reflect my creativity. … I don’t want to be turned into a pop princess, that’s not who I am.”
Then she discussed her song Walk My Way that reached #2 on the iTunes charts and why it was released at the end of the show. She said,
“There was a strategy to that. That was a song to bridge the gap between ‘Brynn on the show” and ‘Brynn after the show.’ … We wanted a hit. I loved it and I knew people were going to love it.”
I noticed it when we interviewed Brynn that she’s intelligent and mature beyond her years. I have a feeling with that good head on her shoulders that she’ll be just fine.
