Britney Spears Posts Wedding Dress Video, Says She Married Herself

Britney Spears recently posted a video on Instagram in which she wears a wedding dress. In the caption, the pop star declared that she had married herself, calling it “the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done.”

On Sunday, Spears posted a video on Instagram in which she can be seen wearing a white wedding dress with a long veil. Spears poses for the camera, with Sting’s “Fields of Gold” playing in the background of the video.

“The day I married myself,” Spears wrote in the post’s caption. “Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done!!!”

Spears has been married three times. Her first marriage, to friend Jason Alexander, was annulled after 55 hours. Her second marriage, to Kevin Federline, lasted from 2004 to 2007. The pair shares two sons — Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Then in 2022, Spears married her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari. The pair separated the next year, with Asghari filing for divorce.

Spears Finalized Her Divorce from Asghari

In August 2023, Spears confirmed in an Instagram post that she and Asghari were separated, writing that she was “a little shocked” by their split. According to People, the couple’s divorce was finalized in May of this year.

However, Spears and Asghari reportedly won’t be declared legally single until December 2 of this year, as California law requires a six-month waiting period. According to court documents, the couple’s date of separation was listed as July 30, 2023 — just over a year since their wedding.

“It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on,” Asghari told the magazine earlier this year. “I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”
