Blake Shelton Eats Cake to Celebrate 500 Episodes of ‘The Voice’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Voice celebrated a giant landmark in its time on television during the second episode of the knockout round this season. The episode began with an announcement saying that the show has made history. It has become the most watched series of the decade on a single network.
Some of the coaches were shocked by this detail, but Blake Shelton definitely wasn’t surprised since he’s been around for all 500 episodes. The first premiere of The Voice brought 11.78 million viewers. Although numbers have naturally gone down over time, the show still brings in a ton of viewers. This current season’s premiere brought in 7.22 million viewers, a 4.56 million decrease in the 10 years.
This show has quickly become a household staple based off the celebrities we’ve seen on this show. Over the years we’ve seen over a dozen different coaches. Currently, we have Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legende, and Ariana Grande.
The series is so loved that it has been nominated for 69 different Primetime Emmy Awards in the past 10 years. Even though they’ve only won seven Grammy Awards, it’s still pretty impressive. On top of their Primetime Emmy nominations, they’ve also been nominated for ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and a number of others. At the rate this show is going, they have another decade full of nominations ahead of them.
Blake Shelton Devours The Voice Celebration Cake Backstage
Later in the episode, Shelton was seen eating the cake with his hands backstage. The three other coaches poked fun at Shelton for eating a giant piece of cake on his own, mostly because we had already seen a knockout.
“That’s a single serving…” Grande said walking away.
If anyone deserves the biggest piece of cake, its definitely this coach for his 10 year commitment to the show.
