‘American Idol’s Ratings Are Finally Up
So, last week was not great for American Idol as far as the old ratings went. In fact, it was the lowest rating they’ve gotten all season. But this Sunday for whatever reason the ratings were up again and it won the night…for the first time.
This Sunday Idol got a 1.5 share, or 7.4 million viewers. That is opposed to last week when it did a 1.3 share or just over 6 million viewers. That’s a 15% increase. Maybe it’s because the shows are live now and people can vote. That usually makes a difference. Or maybe it’s because this week it wasn’t against anything big like March basketball or Jesus Christ Superstar or anything.
Why does this matter? It matters to the advertisers and the advertisers matter to the network. They have to earn back all that crapload of money that they paid Katy Perry and Ryan Seacrest. So, maybe there is hope after all. Which is great because even though the show got off to a rocky start, it’s really getting good now. We’ll see how it does tonight against The Voice.
