‘American Idol’ Winner Iam Tongi, James Blunt Set to Release “Monsters” Duet

American Idol season 21 winner Iam Tongi will be releasing a studio record of the 2019 track “Monsters.” The 18-year-old high school graduate recently announced that he’s once again collaborating with British singer James Blunt for the official duet of the song.

Sharing a photo of him beside Blunt, Tongi shared the great news on Instagram on Thursday. The season 21 winner also revealed the cover art of their duet – a line art of their live number during the series’ finale.
“Safe to say this song changed my life. from covering it on tiktok 3 years ago, to singing it in my audition on @americanidol, to performing it at the idol finale with @jamesblunt, this song means so much to me,” he wrote.
The official duet of “Monsters” will be available on August 25. Upon receiving the announcement, fans expressed their excitement for the music release.
“That’s what’s up!!! Let’s goooo,” one fan wrote.
Blunt wrote “Monsters” for his father Charles, who at the time was battling stage four chronic kidney disease. The song has deeply resonated with Tongi whose father passed away from kidney failure.
He Adds New Date to His Self-Titled Tour
Apart from studio recordings, Tongi has also been busy hitting the road. Just recently, the singer announced that he added another show in his self-titled tour, delighting his fans from Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Guess who’ll be in Vegas next month? Go get your tickets and I’ll see ya’ll there! Yessah,” he wrote on Instagram.
Tongi will be playing at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on September 21, Thursday. However, before that, he will first be hyping the crowd at Solana Beach, California on September 11.
Just recently, the American Idol winner dedicated a song to Maui for the victims of Maui wildfires. Tongi posted a video on Instagram, in which he can be heard performing Mel & Tim’s “Starting All Over Again.”
