In this article, we explore the extraordinary journeys of several former The Voice contestants who fearlessly auditioned on American Idol.


The Voice Singers That Also Auditioned on American Idol

1. Megan Danielle

Megan Danielle, known for her powerful and soulful voice, first made waves on The Voice in 2020 during the show’s Season 18. Her heartfelt performances resonated with viewers, earning her a spot in the Top Nine. Following her memorable run on The Voice, Danielle decided to embark on a new challenge and auditioned for American Idol in 2023, finishing in second place.

2. Malik Heard

Malik Heard, an artist with a velvety smooth voice and undeniable stage presence, captured hearts during his time on The Voice Season ten in 2016. At only 19 years old, his unique sound and artistry left a lasting impact. In a surprising turn of events, Heard decided to take his talent to American Idol, auditioning for the show’s Season 21. The judges were immediately captivated by his soulful rendition of “Ain’t it Fun” by Paramore, but he unfortunately got eliminated after receiving the lowest votes.

3. We Ani

We Ani, previously known as We McDonald, burst onto the scene during The Voice‘s Season 11, leaving audiences amazed by her powerful vocals and remarkable range. Her distinctive tone and incredible control earned her a spot in the show’s finale, solidifying her status as a fan favorite and placing third overall. After her unforgettable journey on The Voice, she took a leap of faith and auditioned for American Idol Season 21, where she eventually finished in the Top Five.


4. Marybeth Byrd

Marybeth Byrd, a country artist with a voice that exudes warmth and authenticity, charmed audiences during her time on The Voice in 2019. Her heartfelt renditions of country classics propelled her to the show’s Top Ten, eventually finishing in eighth place and earning her a devoted fan base. After her success on The Voice, Byrd decided to expand her horizons and auditioned for American Idol, making it all the way to the Top Ten.

5. Allegra Miles

Allegra Miles, a talented and soulful singer, made a lasting impression on The Voice during the show’s Season 18 in 2020. Her captivating performances and unique interpretation of songs set her apart from the competition, earning her a spot in the Top Nine. Building on her momentum, Miles decided to audition for American Idol Season 20, showcasing her incredible vocal range and finishing in the Top 14.

6. Raquel Trinidad

Raquel Trinidad, a talented singer, made her mark on Season 17 of American Idol. Though her journey on American Idol ended in the Top 20, Trinidad didn’t let that deter her. She later appeared on Season 21 of The Voice, where she joined Ariana Grande’s team and reached the Live Playoffs.


7. MacKenzie Bourg

During his time on The Voice Season Three, MacKenzie Bourg showcased his abilities with memorable performances, including “Pumped Up Kicks” during his Blind Audition. Although he was eliminated during the Live Playoffs, his journey didn’t end there. Bourg later auditioned for American Idol Season 15 in Atlanta, Georgia, impressing the judges with a medley of songs and earning a ticket to Hollywood. His American Idol journey concluded after reaching the Top Six.
